Blarney Stone Blues

A leprechaun came up one day
Said Stevie boy look here
You're much too tall
You're much too pale
Come along & have a beer
My wife he said she left today
& she took the kids & ran
But I don't care I'm an Irish man
& I'm doing the best I can
Well I must've looked shocked
when he jumped on my hand
I shriveled & shrunk & fell to the sand
Tried to hang on to a blade of grass
But wind knocked me down & I fell on my ass

We rode on the hill in a little green bus
A laughing & singing the two of us
Pulled up to a pub on the outskirts of town
Said this is where the fun goes down
When I looked in the door I had a big grin
Saw 9 angry men 3 sheets in the wind
They said "Welcome my friend to the Four Leaf Clover Inn"

Where the whiskey & rum & the rain on the rocks
The beer was ever so clear
The maidens are sweet & they'll give you a treat
If you whisper nice things in their ear
We live for the love of the life we've found we love the life we live
And a diddly diddly diddly diddly dance the Irish jig
And a diddly diddly diddly diddly dance the Irish jig

But this dude in the corner he could sing the blues
Why he could croon those blues
He sang Georgia Georgia Georgia Georgia all night long
Ho Georgia Georgia Georgia Georgia georgia all day long
He was the only black leprechaun I'd ever seen

Where the whiskey & rum & the rain on the rocks
The beer was ever so clear
The maidens are sweet & they'll give you a treat
If you whisper nice things in their ear
We live for the love of the life we've found we love the life we live
And a diddly diddly diddly diddly dance the Irish jig
And a diddly diddly diddly diddly dance the Irish jig

We left the pub at 4 am we crawled back to his bus
We went to McDonalds & ate some Mcnuggets
I launched it in his bus
When I woke I was tall I was pale & I was back in my chair
Singing the Blarney stone blues with an Irish black beat

Where the whiskey & rum & the rain on the rocks
The beer was ever so clear
The maidens are sweet & they'll give you a treat
If you whisper nice things in their ear
We live for the love of the life we've found we love the life we live
And a diddly diddly diddly diddly dance the Irish jig
And a diddly diddly diddly diddly dance the Irish jig

As my friend drove away said these final words
I never will forget. He said
"May the road rise up my friend to meet you
May the winds be always at your back
May the sunshine walk upon your face today
& the rains fall soft upon your fields
& until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of his hands
May God hold you Stevie boy
In the hollow of his hands"
