Foolish Love
Well everyday just feels like Sunday
when I'm with you
Standing outside your window
I call for you
???? spins around
& I'm hypnotised by the sound
& I float just like a feather to the ground
Oh my darling I have waited for so long
In my best tuxedo how could I go wrong
The neighbours listen in on my party life
they're drinking wine
& laughing at me on your porch tonight
Oh foolish love
I empty both my pockets
got a 2 dollar bill
I bought a hotdog & a lemonade
that I did spill
Oh foolish love
Well over on the steps
I found a shiny nickel
grabbed the jar of mustard
& a big green pickle
If I could turn the clocks back
23 hours & 17 seconds oh
well maybe you'd have me back
Well I wonder why the dance hall
looks so dead tonight
I'm standing out here with a
bouquet of flowers
but something ain't right
I came an hour early for romance
now it seems like I have
missed my chance
now I've gained a day
but lost my fiancee
I bootlaid 5 whole gallons
of some halooch last night
Well honey-sugar-dumpling
you know how I get
when I get tight
I passed out on your bed
with your nagging voice
inside my head saying:
"Pick me up at eight & don't be late"
Oh foolish love
I empty both my pockets
got a 2 dollar bill
I bought a hotdog & a lemonade
that I did spill
Oh foolish love
Well over on the steps
I found a shiny nickel
grabbed the jar of mustard
& a big green pickle
If I could turn the clocks back
23 hours & 17 seconds oh
well maybe you'd have me back
Well I ran to the telephone booth
searching for some new excuse
I was kidnapped & dragged into a car
& forced to shoot some Russian Tzar
Now I don't know just what I've done
but they're blaming me for World War 1
& did you see my face on the news
Well honey this ain't no lame excuse
Now I'm in trouble
(I'm in trouble)
& I was seeing double
(I was seeing double)
& now you wants to pummel
(you wants to pummel)
my lame ass in the rubble
I hate to burst your bubble
but our love's in trouble
Oh honey hand me the shovel
cause' I'm digging my own grave
Oh foolish love
I empty both my pockets
got a 2 dollar bill
I bought a hotdog & a lemonade
that I did spill
Oh foolish love
Well over on the steps
I found a shiny nickel
grabbed the jar of mustard
& a big green pickle
If I could turn the clocks back
23 hours & 17 seconds, oh
well maybe you'd have me back
If I could turn the clocks back
23 hours & 17 seconds
well maybe you'd have me back
