Lullaby For You

Words cannot describe the way
I feel in your arms tonight
Drifting soaring reaching to new heights
Tossing coins in wishing wells
as the birds sing on & on & on

But it's just a lullaby for you

With lips as plush as pillows
You're soft as a prayer
(It's not always what it seems)
Skin as sweet as candy
I can only have you in my dreams

Mere deeds cannot express the love
that swells in my heart
I pine for you whenever we're apart
The sun just hides behind the clouds
as the rain pours on & on

But it's just a lullaby for you

Precious vows were spoken
by the whistle of a train
Promises lie broken
scattered in the rain

Writing notes I'll never send
as the fire slowly burns
I'll sleep in the cold till you return
I listen to the melancholy phonograph
spin round & round & round

But it's just a lullaby for you
Yes it's just a lullaby for you
Oh it's just a lullaby for you
