Rainbow

Took a walk down Oceanbeach park
Met a man there in a cardboard box
He asked me to come & talk for a while
But all he wanted was a rainbow

He pulled out a wrinkled 8 by 10
& all the dreams that eluded him
He told me about Noah in east LA
& a plastic Mary that got away

Don't you think it's right
For you & I to spend a little time
The winds of change may blow
& chase away our dreams
& our rainbows

He reminded me of my dad
He talked of things that we once had
Of all the dreams he wanted to know
Was where is his rainbow

Don't you think it's right
For you & I to spend a little time
The winds of change may blow
& chase away our dreams
& our rainbows

& I'd trade everything I own
For one more talk with you
& I'd give everything I own
For one more hug with you
la la la la

So I came away with a hole in my heart
I thought about making a brand new start
I guess I'll have to chase my dreams
I'll think of my daddy & keep my memories

Don't you think it's right
For you & I to spend a little time
The winds of change may blow
& chase away our dreams
& our rainbows

& chase away our dreams
& our rainbows
la la la la la la
la la la la la la
la la la la la la
la la la la la la
